Canada is Not Competitive?

Canada’s economy has not had as bad a time as the US economy over the past few years.  However things may be changing.  Recent figures show that the US labor productivity grew three times faster than the Canadian one during 2010.

Labour costs have gone down in the US via investment in new technology and reduced wages and benefits.  This has been seen as acceptable by employees who want their companies to stay competitive.   Canadian salaries and benefits have remained much the same or have actually grown.

Can it be that the Canadian workforce is that they have got complacent and use to the comfortable life?  Now is the time to tighten our belts and copy the US.  Canada must become more efficient.
